Fox Releases Deadpool 2 Teaser Trailer
Long ago in a galaxy far, far away, comic book movies could not expect to be Rated R and make any money (even if they were rated-R they were usually terrible). This is the story of Deadpool. Or at least it was the story of Deadpool before "someone" took matters into their own hands and decided to leak the test footage of a Ryan Reynolds-led Deadpool pitch to Fox. Fast forward a crazy amount of internet buzz, a successful production and record-breaking statistics ($783.1 million world wide) for a Rated R movie later and we're all waiting with baited breath for Wade and Dopinder's return in Deadpool 2.
We got our first glimpse of Wade back in action in a very minor teaser in front of the release of Logan, another Fox property that went on to do very well for itself both financially and critically. Nothing about that teaser had anything to do with Deadpool 2 however and was just a fun reminder that the Merc with a mouth was hard at work preparing for his next time in the limelight.
Yesterday however, was a completely different story. After myriad set photos caught by fans and official images released by Fox we finally got our first look at Deadpool 2, in typical Reynolds/Wilson fashion. It begins with Reynolds in costume, or should I say Deadpool in costume, parodying famous painter Bob Ross who had a popular television show called The Joy of Painting. It's hilarious. It then transitions into a sizzle reel of footage from the upcoming, highly-anticipated feature film including shots of Wade, Dopinder, Domino and even Cable (just a hand, but still).
If that bit of marketing didn't convince you of how irreverent the character and the team behind the film are, maybe this synopsis of the film will:
After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.
Yea. Absolutely nothing to do with the actual movie (aside from possible plot structure). That's Deadpool for you.
Vanessa (Morena Baccarin), Dopinder (Karan Soni), Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hilderbrand), Weasel (TJ Miller), and Blind Al (Leslie Uggums) are briefly shown in their returns.
